Can you share a bit about your journey?
I studied linguistics and cultural mediation applied to the economic, legal, and social sectors in Italy before moving to London nearly 10 years ago. Though my academic background is not in tech, I found my passion in problem-solving and building efficient systems, which led me into engineering.

What does your role at the FT look like?
I’m a mid-level engineer working in the MARTech team. My team is responsible for all things marketing technology and my role focuses on developing and maintaining the technical infrastructure that supports our marketing team. I work closely with other teams across Product and Tech to ensure our systems are efficient, scalable, and deliver a seamless experience for both internal users and customers.

What inspired your transition into tech?
I’ve always been drawn to technology, especially coding, because of its problem-solving nature. It encourages logical and analytical thinking, which I find really engaging. I love the challenge of breaking down complex issues and finding effective solutions. As an engineer, I get to create and maintain systems that directly impact people’s work, improving efficiency and productivity. Knowing that the platforms I help develop make a real difference in how teams operate keeps me motivated

You’ve been at the FT for over seven years—what keeps you here?
I'm sure you might have heard this a few times but the FT culture, people and opportunities for growth is what keeps me here. The engineers I work with are some of the best, and there’s a real sense of support, collaboration, and respect within the team. I feel valued in my role, and I know the work we do has a meaningful impact. The management team is also very supportive, ensuring individual growth and work-life balance. Returning from maternity leave was a smooth experience, which further reinforced how much I appreciate working here.

Are you involved in any employee networks or have passions outside of work?
One of the things I love about the FT is the range of employee-led groups available. The first group I joined when I started working here was FT Women. I loved the idea of a space dedicated for women in the company to connect, share experiences, and learn from external speakers. It’s great to see how committed the company is to supporting female employees.

Outside of work, I’m passionate about running—Park Runs are a favorite of mine. I also love spending time with my newborn, especially exploring different baby activities together

What advice would you give to someone looking to break into tech?
I think the tech industry is full of opportunities, and my advice would be to stay curious and never stop learning. Things move very fast in tech, so keeping up with new trends, technologies, and best practices is essential. Another thing is to not be afraid of asking questions, seeking mentorship, and taking on challenges outside your comfort zone.

There’s also many different paths in tech, not just engineering, so I’d say find what really excites you and build your skills around that. I guess one very important thing is not letting imposter syndrome hold you back—everyone starts somewhere!

Challenges are part of any career—how have you tackled them?
I’ve found that having a problem-solving mindset, staying adaptable, and leaning on my support network has helped me overcome my challenges. Whether it's a tough technical issue, a steep learning curve, or balancing work and personal life, I’ve learned to take things step by step. Seeking advice from colleagues, continuous learning, and maintaining resilience have been key to tackling obstacles along the way.

What’s been your proudest career moment so far?
Every day, I feel proud of the work I do because I know it contributes to something bigger. Whether it’s solving a complex technical issue, working on an incident, or helping my team deliver a project successfully, those moments make me proud. Knowing that our work directly impacts how the FT delivers its services to customers is really fulfilling.
