The Financial Times has appointed world-renowned author and economist Adam Tooze as a contributing editor in New York. Tooze will bring his nuanced perspective to the multiple crises besetting the global economy to the FT in a monthly column. 

Tooze is the Kathryn and Shelby Cullom Davis Professor of History at Columbia University and Director of the European Institute. He is the author of several books, the most recent is ‘Shutdown: How COVID shook the world's economy’ (2021). He also writes the Chartbook Newsletter.

"Adam is the perfect fit for the FT and for this moment. He has long been a must-read for our readers and we are thrilled that he is now joining our stable of distinguished external writers," said Alice Fishburn, opinion and analysis editor at the FT. 

Tooze’s first column ‘Welcome to the world of the polycrisis’ was published on 28 October.
