Former Bank of England chief economist Andy Haldane is joining the Financial Times as a contributing editor in London. He will write a monthly column examining the economic and social shifts shaping our world today.

One of the most distinguished economists and public servants in British public life in recent years, Haldane currently serves as chief executive of the Royal Society of Arts. He is an honorary professor at the Universities of Nottingham, Manchester and Exeter, a visiting professor at King's College, London, and a visiting fellow at Nuffield College, Oxford. He also recently held the position of permanent secretary for levelling up at the Cabinet Office.
