The Financial Times has joined Business Declares, a network of more than 100 businesses that stand for urgent climate and ecological action and social justice. As a member, the FT will share its journey with other businesses in the coalition, and be open about the challenges involved, to inspire others and add to the collective call for change.

FT chief commercial officer Jon Slade, who leads the FT’s sustainability efforts, said: “The FT is proud to become a member of Business Declares, a reflection of our ongoing commitment to reduce our total emissions and leverage our influence in the wider business community.

Business Declares network director Samantha Cooper said: “The speed and acceleration of climate breakdown is shocking - extreme heat, wildfires, droughts, floods, and famine around the world. A new chapter of political and business leadership is needed on a global scale, and I am delighted that the FT has joined our coalition and call to action."

The FT has set science-based targets to reduce its total emissions through 2030, in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to 1.5C. Read more about the FT’s sustainability commitments here
