Felicia Schwartz has been appointed US foreign affairs correspondent in the Washington DC bureau of the Financial Times. In this role, Schwartz will lead the FT's coverage of American foreign policy and national security, focusing on the Pentagon, US State Department and National Security Council.

Prior to joining the FT, Schwartz spent eight years at The Wall Street Journal, where she held several roles, including US State Department correspondent, Israel & Palestinian territories correspondent and, most recently, as a New York-based reporter covering the Covid-19 pandemic.

Peter Spiegel, US managing editor at the FT, said, "Our growth strategy in the US is focused on readers who need to stay abreast of geopolitics in an increasingly unstable world. I know of no reporter better qualified than Felicia to deliver those insights from Washington to our growing American readership – as well as our international audience, which is always hungry to understand how a global superpower is exercising its might."

Schwartz said, "I look forward to joining the FT at such a pivotal moment in American foreign policy, as we see the Biden administration tested in Europe, Asia and the Middle East and power conflicts with Russia and China.”
