At the 2013 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the Financial Times was on the ground covering the event, participating as session leaders and hosting events to coincide with the annual meeting.

Martin Wolf and his infamous winter hat joined CNBC with NourielRoubini, Maria Bartiromo and Ross Westgate.
Inside the WEF Congress Center, Lionel Barber chaired a high-level panel including prime ministers Mario Monti of Italy, Enda Kenny of Ireland, Dutch PM Mark Rutte, Polish PM Donald Tusk and Danish PM HelleThorning-Schmidt, on how to solve the Eurozone debt crisis.
In addition to Lionel Barber, several other senior FT journalists participated on the following sessions:
- Martin Wolf moderated a lively panel on how to restore Europe’s vibrancy
- John Gapper moderated a panel on the science behind human decision-making
- Gideon Rachman chaired a panel titled ‘global leadership in transition’
- Gillian Tett led a panel exploring new visions for growth, and also interviewed top Chinese economist Li Daokui.
For the fourth year, the FT joined up with CNBC for the annual Davos Nightcap hosted by Financial Times editor Lionel Barber and CNBC president Mark Hoffman. The event gathered 200 of the world’s most influential business leaders, government officials and economists, including: Maria Bartiromo, Gary Cohn, Jamie Dimon, Richard Edelman, Richard Gelfond, James Gorman, Dina Habib Powell, Richard Haass, Drew Houston, Kenneth Jacobs , Imran Khan, Ambassador Ronald Kirk, Lord Peter Mandelson, Brian Moynihan, Dambisa Moyo, Ruth Porat, Andrew Ross Sorkin, Nouriel Roubini, Stephen Schwarzman, Jake Siewart, John Studzinski and Lucas van Praag. Advance copies of the FT’s soon to be published 125th anniversary book, Lunch with the FT: 52 Classic Interviews, edited by Lionel Barber, were given away to guests at the end of the evening.
The FT partnered with Edelman on their annual Trust Barometer Launch event where Gillian Tett moderated a panel which discussed the state of trust across various sectors: government, media and financial institutions. Panelists included Todd Bradley, Executive Vice President, Printing and Personal Systems Group, HP; Rui Chenggang, Director and Anchor, CCTV International; Yoshito Hori, President, GLOBIS University; Robert Moritz, Chairman and Senior Partner, PwC; and Ruth Porat, Executive Vice President and CFO, Morgan Stanley.
