16 November 2018: The Financial Times took home prizes in three categories at the 2018 UK Comment Awards in London this week.

Sarah O’Connor, Investigations Correspondent, was named Business Commentator of the Year. Last year, O’Connor received the award for Economics Commentator of the Year.

Miranda Green, Deputy Opinion Editor, was honoured as Culture, Diary and Social Commentator of the Year. Tim Harford, Economics Leader Writer, was awarded Science and Data Commentator of the Year, alongside Oliver Moody of The Times.

The Comment Awards, now in their 10th year, celebrate and acknowledge the finest UK commentators across a number of fields, from business and politics to food and fashion.

Julia Hobsbawm, Founder of The Comment Awards and Chair of this year’s judges, said: “This was such a volatile year in the world. Not only was comment as vital as ever, but it became contentious. The awards reflected the culture wars of the day, where opinion itself is in the firing line. We proudly support freedom of expression and the key role comment plays in the media.”
