The Financial Times partnered with UBS to host ‘Lunch with the FT’ at Art Basel Hong Kong on 15 May. The lunch featured FT arts editor Jan Dalley and arts writer Peter Aspden, who led a panel discussion on starting an art collection, and attracted more than a hundred VIPs from the global arts and business community.
The panelists were:
- Uli Sigg, former Swiss ambassador to China and the world’s foremost collector of contemporary Chinese art
- Adrian Cheng, founder of the K11 Art Mall and CEO of Chow Tai Fook
- Emi Eu, director of Singapore Tyler Print Institute
The FT also co-hosted a dinner with the White Cube and BSI at the Peninsula Hotel, celebrating Tracy Emin’s neon art work, commissioned by Art Basel and projected on the hotel’s facade. Guests enjoyed an evening of food, wine and a live debate with Tim Marlowe of the Royal Academy, Jan Dalley and Peter Aspden.
Art Basel in Hong Kong has a significant role in the international art world, with half of the galleries who participate coming from Asia Pacific. It allows artists and galleries from around the world to demonstrate the way they work with artists in Asia, and bring their highest quality work to Hong Kong.
