Today marks the launch of the FT 125 Women’s Forum, which aims to help high-potential women at mid-career level progress into future leadership roles. The forum is an initiative from The 125, the FT’s corporate membership forum.

Spearheaded by FT business editor Sarah Gordon, The 125 Women’s Forum has been designed to engage participants in new thinking around a range of topics, including digital innovation and other forces shaping the corporate world, as well as leadership. Members will also enjoy access to networking opportunities with women at a similar stage in their career in a wide range of sectors. The FT 125 Women’s Forum is designed to be inclusive and will involve both women and men in the discussions.

Angela Mackay, who oversees the FT’s global events strategy in addition to her role as managing director for Asia-Pacific, said: “One of the biggest challenges our 125 members face is attracting and retaining talented women. The FT 125 Women’s Forum will address this issue head on by providing an arena for future women leaders to network with their peers, as well as gain insight and confidence to flourish in their careers.”

Mackay announced the founding members of the FT 125 Women’s Forum at the FT’s Women at the Top Summit on September 29, which are: Bridgepoint, BT, Burberry, Financial Times, GSK, Herbert Smith Freehills, National Grid, Newton Investment Management, Shire, Springer Nature and Worldpay. The launch event is taking place on October 5, 2016 with Jayne-Anne Gadhia, CEO Virgin Money in discussion with Sarah Gordon.

Since The 125 launched two years ago, it has grown to 40 members, including FTSE100 companies. Its monthly events provide opportunities for members to learn from senior executives and leading FT columnists and specialists across a wide range of sectors. Previous speakers at The 125 include Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft; Ana Botín, chair of Santander; and George Osborne, former UK Chancellor.
