The Financial Times has released Untold: Power for Sale, season two of its investigative podcast series, that explores the ongoing political scandal in the European Parliament referred to as Qatargate.
Untold: Power for Sale examines the 2022 scandal that saw EU Parliament offices raided, and lawmakers and their family members arrested over allegations of corruption that involved taking bribes from Qatar.
Hosted by Europe news editor Valentina Pop, the four-part series looks into key events in the lead-up to Qatargate and the case against those accused of corruption, which remains pending.
Led by FT reporters across Europe and Pop in London, the podcast interviews many key figures involved in the case, including Greek politician Eva Kaili.
“Qatargate exposed serious flaws in the way European democracy works and shook the credibility of the EU,” said Pop. “We go back through key events and speak to suspects, prosecutors and people affected by this case to shine a light on why the scandal has failed to turn into a much-needed wakeup call for the European parliament.”
Untold: Power for Sale is available now on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts.
