The Financial Times today announces the return of Camp Alphaville, London’s first festival of finance, at the Artillery Garden at the HAC on Wednesday, July 1. Hosted by FT Alphaville, the second annual event has an even bigger and bolder agenda than last year, featuring prominent keynote speakers, debates, robots and comedy.
FT Alphaville editor and Camp Alphaville founder Paul Murphy said: “Camp Alphaville is a place for all the world-class strategists, economists, financiers, asset managers and academics who read Alphaville but never get a chance to meet outside the office to discuss some serious ideas. But there’s no reason it can’t be in a fun setting. This is the future of finance conferences – tents, igloos, robots and all.”
Inspired by the format of a classic British summer music festival, Camp Alphaville features over 80 keynote speakers and panelists, ranging from central bankers to football finance pundits, speaking simultaneously across a variety of tents and stages. This year’s topics include China, the euro, the rise of artificial intelligence, currency wars, energy supply, central banking and much more. There will be dedicated fintech exhibits, bigger breakout spaces, great entertainment, and the popular robots and drones will be back.
Cardiff Garcia, US editor of FT Alphaville, said: “We want this event to have widespread appeal, with investors, statisticians, developers and robots all colliding in lively banter. More than anything, we just want everyone there to have an amazing and memorable time. There’s really only one ironclad rule: no muppets.”
This year, with design agency Marketcolor, FT Alphaville is hosting the “Great Camp Alphaville Quiz, with firms and groups of friends invited to form teams for a knockout competition to test their knowledge and understanding of financial markets.
Tickets start at £200 per person.
