The Financial Times Group has acquired the product and consulting assets of Wavteq, a global strategy consulting firm specialising in economic development.

Wavteq’s products, which are used by leading organisations in both the public and private sector, include Amplify, IncentivesFlow, InvestmentFlow, InvestmentMap, Institute, and Influencers. Their strategy and development team has delivered projects for economic development organisations in more than 50 countries. This acquisition does not include the lead generation, marketing or representation services.

The acquired assets will join a newly combined portfolio within FT Specialist, part of the FT Group, aimed at foreign direct investment professionals and international investors. The portfolio, which contains fDi Intelligence, fDi Markets, fDi Insights, fDi Benchmark and GIS Planning, offers a wide range of services, including news and analysis, data tools, events, and strategic guidance.

The strengthened portfolio will help both corporate and community clients unlock a suite of accessible, on-demand tools and resources to attract investment and remain competitive in an unpredictable and rapidly changing global business environment.

Chris Knight, Wavteq co-founder and chief commercial officer, joins the FT and will lead the newly combined portfolio in FT Specialist.
