27 May 2019: The Financial Times has opened a bureau in Shenzhen to expand the depth and breadth of its news and analysis of greater China.
The Shenzhen bureau marks the FT’s third bureau in mainland China after Beijing and Shanghai. The FT is currently the only foreign news service with a functioning bureau in Shenzhen. Combined with its regional Asia headquarters in Hong Kong and bureau in Taipei, the FT is able to provide unrivalled business, financial and economic news from greater China.
The FT has appointed Sue-Lin Wong as south China correspondent to lead reporting from the Shenzhen bureau, where she will cover technology, manufacturing, transport and labour issues, among other topics.
Jamil Anderlini, Asia editor, said, “We are focused on expanding our China operations with additional reporters in Beijing and Shanghai and with our bureau in Shenzhen. Our readers rely on the FT to provide trusted information about China and to help them interpret this complex region.”
