The Financial Times has agreed on a new partnership with Temasek that will allow it to provide free FT.com access to schools around the world. Schools teaching 16 to 19 year olds can register at ft.com/schoolsarefree.

FT Schools helps students achieve more in school and better prepare for life beyond the classroom through access to the FT’s high quality journalism on a range of topics including global affairs, economics and climate change. Students also benefit from a weekly newsletter, regular competitions, a class discussion page on FT.com featuring teacher recommended content and the Student Advocate Work Experience Programme. 92% of students who read the FT feel more informed and curious about the world around them.

Krishan Puvvada, the FT’s Project Lead for Education, said: “FT Schools has helped 75,000 students at 3,800 schools in more than 110 countries feel more confident as they emerge into the adult world. We are excited to partner with Temasek as we create more resources to add more value to more students around the world.”

Stephen Forshaw, Head of Public Affairs at Temasek, said, “Investing in human potential starts with opportunities to learn, by accessing news and opinions that will challenge their thinking and keep them well-informed about global affairs. This intangible helps young people tackle the opportunities and challenges of tomorrow.

“Our partnership with FT Schools will give more students access to quality, reputable journalism. In itself, this reminds us all that journalism is important, notwithstanding the disruptions the profession faces. Our future leaders need access to a variety of sources of news and opinions, so they don’t become dependent on just what they see online.”
