The Financial Times is delighted to begin work with MyBnk, an innovative charity which delivers financial education to schools and youth organisations. MyBnk provides interactive financial education programmes around saving, budgeting and university finance in schools and youth groups across London, Cumbria and Tees Valleys.
FT funding will go towards a series of workshops run at the City of London Academy. A team of teachers, youth workers and finance professionals will deliver direct, high energy and practical workshops, live market challenges and microfinance schemes.
Declan Wilkes, Head of Communications, MyBnk, said: “Thanks to the FT, 440 students at City of London Academy will tackle everything from student finance to nuts and bolts of money management in full day and standalone programmes”.
As part of the new partnership the FT is supporting Learn Money Week , a MyBnk initiative in collaboration with the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders. Learn Money Week will engage young people in a series of activities and games to teach them how to save, spend and borrow money responsibly.
FT staff will be involved with the event which runs from March 15th to 22nd.
The FT’s corporate responsibility programme supports charities and organisations promoting the local community, education, journalism and the environment.
