5 December 2018: Abbie Scott, deputy managing editor of the Financial Times, was awarded the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Award at the National Council for the Training of Journalists 2018 Awards for Excellence in Journalism.
Scott was commended by the judges for supporting the FT's extensive intern programme and implementing partnerships to give journalists from under-represented backgrounds an opportunity to work in the newsroom.
NCTJ’s Awards for Excellence in Journalism aim to highlight and reward the achievements of journalism students and trainees with promising careers ahead of them. Scott is the inaugural winner of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion honour.
