18 November 2019: The Financial Times took home four prizes at the 18th annual State Street UK Institutional Press Awards, including the award for Outstanding Contributions, honouring FT’s pension correspondent, Josephine Cumbo.
Cumbo was recognised for her world-class pensions coverage and outstanding contributions to institutional journalism. Last year, she was named Headline Money’s pensions journalist of the year for the second year running and honoured at the Women in Pensions Awards.
Additional wins include:
- Elaine Moore, Deputy head of Lex, received the Journalist of the Year award in the Data, Technology and Innovation reporting category.
- Anna Devine, senior reporter at Ignites Europe, received the Journalist of the Year award in the Diversity & Inclusion category.
- Jem Bartholomew, former reporter for Pensions Expert, received the award for Best Newcomer for journalists who have spent less than two years in financial journalism.

Last year, the FT took home six prizes at the 2018 State Street Awards including Breaking News Journalist of the Year, which was awarded to the FT’s Madison Marriage.
The State Street UK Institutional Press Awards honour the contributions of journalists covering institutional investment, pensions, investor services, technology and diversity & inclusion themes over the past year.
