16 May 2019: Martin Wolf, the FT’s associate editor and chief economics commentator, has been honoured with the 2019 Gerald Loeb Lifetime Achievement Award for distinguished business and financial journalism.
The award “recognizes a journalist whose career exemplifies the consistent, superior insight and professional skills necessary to further the understanding of business, financial and economic issues.”
Wolf began his journalism career as chief leader writer for the FT in 1987, previously serving as a senior economist at the World Bank and director of studies at the Trade Policy Research Centre, in London.
Wolf’s past awards and honours include the 2014 prize for best commentary at the Overseas Press Club Awards, the 2003 “Accenture Decade of Excellence” at the Business Journalist of the Year Awards, the RTZ David Watt memorial prize in 1994, and the Wincott Foundation senior prize for excellence in financial journalism in 1989 and again in 1997, among many others. He has also been named a CBE (Commander of the British Empire) in 2000 for “services to financial journalism.”
Wolf will be honoured at this years’ banquet and ceremony on June 27th in New York City.
